Description
Description
Lord Nelson Pottery produced from Stoke-on-Trent from the 1950s through to the 1980s, becoming known for their tactile, relief-moulded earthenware in rich, earthy glazes. Their output sits at a sweet spot between mass production and genuine craft — affordable when new, increasingly collectable now.
This small conical vase is finished in a deep olive-khaki glaze and covered entirely in a basketweave relief pattern — interlocking diagonal bands that catch the light and reward handling. The form is compact and satisfying: wide at the base, tapering to a rounded open top. The base bears the crowned Lord Nelson Pottery / England stamp alongside the date code 5-71, placing production firmly in May 1971.
A small but characterful piece that works well grouped with other earthenware or as a standalone desk or shelf object.
