Pfaltzgraff Gourmet Brown - No.265 Oval Au Gratin Dish, USA, c.1950s–1980s

A classic piece of American stoneware from Pfaltzgraff of Pennsylvania, in their much-loved Gourmet Brown pattern — known to collectors simply as Brown Drip. This individual oval au gratin dish, shape 265, is glazed in the signature way: a rich treacle brown pooling and dripping over a warm cream ground, each piece uniquely marked by the flow of the glaze in the kiln. The pointed lug handles and oval form make this a versatile serving and baking piece, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.

The Gourmet Brown pattern ran from the mid 1940s until 1988 and is one of the most actively collected discontinued American stoneware lines, with a devoted following on both sides of the Atlantic. The base carries the Pfaltzgraff castle mark with shape number 265.

Oval form with two pointed lug handles. Brown drip glaze over cream ground — each piece unique to the kiln firing. Oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Base marked with Pfaltzgraff castle mark and shape number 265.

Good vintage condition consistent with age and use. No chips or cracks. Glaze variation is characteristic of the manufacturing process, not damage.
